Coquelicot Vineyard is a unique planting in a low-lying area of the Santa Ynez Valley. 2016 was a warmer year which benefited from some early season rain. The rain gave an additional four weeks of growth which made a wine that is not only darker but also more delicate. The fruit was hand-picked, fermented for eight days on its skins, gently pressed, and aged for 10 months in French oak barrels. This wine is expessive of dark red fruit, wet stone, black olives, pepper and tea. As it matures, it will show more jammy red fruits and the tannins will soften.
